Elandspad 2016

A great days kloofing in Elandspad in perfect weather. We left early in the morning with temperatures forecast to reach 40 degrees so that we could avoid hiking in the heat. A wise decision as it turned out as we reached Fishermans Cave at about 10 in the morning, after about 1.5 to 2 hours of walking. We first explored up river a bit but turned round at about 11 and headed for the waterfall, last visited 3 years ago. It proved tricky to find the entrance with the river running very low in a drought year but the route up to the waterfall was easier than before and the water at the waterfall was fantastic. Previously it had been very cold. The waterfall was still falling strongly and after some great swims underneath it we descended back to the main river for lunch. We departed from the lunch spot at Fishermans Cave at about 2. The kloofing was easier than before due to the low level of the river with the result that many rocks were exposed and there was more boulder hopping. We arrived back at the cars at about 4.00 after a relaxed days kloofing.
