Community Service is one of the most difficult things to do. To help with this (yes, it really is a help) there is a minimum planning and reporting requirement. The requirement to put down your plan in writing helps you to think through the issues and make sure that
The Discoverer scouts have a requirement of 6 hours of community service. Generally we expect you to do your community service with your patrol and not with the troop.
Permits are required for Community Service.
Planning
The planning should include:
- Title Page
- Contents Page
- Details of the community service planned (if it is with an organisation then some information about that organisation as well, including contact information);
- Any safety issues (e.g. if you are doing a river cleanup, what safety issues are there and how will you minimise them)
- List of Participants
- The times and dates of the community service, including how long you will spend on doing it.
- What equipment is needed.
- Communications
- Costs
- Success factors – What would it take for you to consider this community service a success.
Report
The report should include:
- Title Page
- Contents Page
- Who actually attended and the hours they contributed
- What actually happened (compared to what was planned)
- What issues came up and how were they dealt with
- What would you do differently
- Photos (if you have them) – Photos must also be uploaded to the Google Drive.
