Joining Cubs or Scouts

Current Status

The Pack (Cubs)

The Pack is currently full with a waiting list of approximately one year.

The Troop (Scouts)

The Troop is current full with a waiting list exceeding two years.

Joining Scouts or Cubs

  • The first step is to contact us and check whether we are currently accepting new members (see above), or if we are full and adding new applicants to our waiting list. If we are full, we can also refer you to other groups in the area.
  • If we are accepting new members, we’ll arrange a date for you to come along to a meeting. Scouts (age 11-17) meet on Thursdays from 7 to 9 pm, and Cubs (age 7-10) meet on Fridays from 5:30 to 7 pm, at our hall at 17 Bowwood Road, Claremont.  At this stage you don’t need a uniform and you don’t need to pay anything. Parents can chat to the leaders at the start of the meeting, and collect an application form. For Cubs (age 7-10), parents are welcome to stay and watch the meeting if you prefer.
  • After a few weeks, we will check with you whether you want to be invested as a Cub or Scout. The investiture is a short ceremony which families can attend, where the Cub or Scout  wears their uniform for the first time, is presented with their scarf and badges, and is allocated to a patrol (Scouts) or a six (Cubs). You will need to buy a uniform from the Scout Shop in Claremont before being invested.  We will let you know our annual membership fees.
