Smoke Signals has a long tradition at 1st Claremont. The first recorded edition was in 1958 and it has been produced erratically since then with the longest consistent run being in the 1980’s (6 editions) annually. Smoke Signals won the HV Marsh Award for Scout Journalism in 2019, the first time it has done so. It was recognised in the same competition in 2018 and 2020 as achieving the gold standard in scout journalism.
It is currently produced 4 times a year as a series of posts on our website, allowing us to use multimedia in the production of the magazine.
