Upton 2024

This was held at Tygerberg Nature Reserve on the 5 of may. There were 98 patrols attending, with 3 of these patrols representing 1st Claremont. The day started off with us being lifted to Tiger Man, arriving there at 10 a.m. The leaders of each patrol were Oliver Ringrose, Oliver Van Zyl-Smit, and Simon Frederick Vuyo Halse. The competition started off with Oliver Van Zyl-Smit’s team pushing ahead and being in front of the majority of teams, while Oliver Ringrose’s team and Simon’s teams tucked closely together for the majority of the competition. The bases had a variety of tasks, ranging from mapping to building towers out of jelly tots and raw spaghetti. We hiked a total of 10 km, and the competition went for 8  hours. Oliver Ringrose’s team placed 12th, Oliver Van Zyl-Smit’s team placed 2nd, and Simon Frederick Vuyo Halse’s team placed 17th. Overall,  this competition was a lot of fun, and we all had a blast.
