From the 14 of April to the 16 of April senior cubs from all over the Western Cape came to Hawequas for the annual survivor cubs camp.
The aim of the camp is to prepare cubs over the age of 10 for scouts mostly through survivor based games and activities. The 71 cubs were divided into 9 tribes, each with a representing name and colour. These tribes had to try and collect the 10 parts of the scout law poem in order to win the game. We earned these by winning games and finding painted stones that represented immunity idols.
“My favourite activities were the ones held up at the dam. The water was freezing but that just made it more fun. Another part I enjoyed was that we hardly slept. The first night everyone was talking and the second night we had the campfire. The campfire was another great part of camp. The skits and songs were really funny and everything looked a bit spooky.“
Camp was really fun and we made so many friends and learnt so many things. I don’t think anyone’s going forget this anytime soon.
