The Goshawks’ Bush

Goshawks Patrol Camp

Day 1:

We started the day off by getting all the equipment in the trailer and Ethan realised we forgot the tents.

Once we got there we had to carry everything across the bridge because the river had overflowed. Then Ethan realised we had forgotten the gas Stoves back at the hall.

We then set up camp and went geocaching. Bridget got her shoes wet for no reason at all, because the geocache was MISSING! Bridget was not happy. We got bach to camp and started on our tie dying process when we realised we had forgot Avila’s white shirt!

Avila did her HIV talk and then we built flagpole with the goshawks new flag!

We started making supper and Ethan made Bridget & Avila recut all the carrots! later we realised that we forgot to cook the rice… AND we had forgotten another pot…. so.. we cooked the rice in a kettle!

We later made a fire to dry Bridget’s shoes, but we ended up melting them instead! We made some smores on the fire and had an early night in bed. We all ended up waking up at about 4am as the rain was hitting our tents hard, but we all managed to go back to sleep. (Bridget’s shoes did not Dry)

Day 2:

We were all meant to wake up at 7:30… Avila did but didn’t bother to wake everyone eise in the patrol up. Ethan slept through his alarm because of the heavy rain and Bridget and Avila had to wake him and Logan up.

We made our oats so easy and then did PT. for PT we played frissbee for a while and then ran to the other side of the river. Bridget and Avila threw water at Ethan for making their shoes wet.

When we finished PT we did the mapping that we were supposed to do last night and then built our solar ovens that we couldn’t use because it was overcast. (We named the solar ovens the Bob family! We had Mr. Bob, Mrs Bob, Frank Bob, and Sam Bob.) We then had some free time and played chubby bunny with marshmallows and played charades!

We started with lunch which were jaffles and Avila was disgusted that Ethan had his with tomato sauce.

We went outside to do solar ovens but the Sun decided to disappear! Bridget and Avila learned that they could play on the seesaw without using their feet and after a while Logan and Ethan joined and we all played on the seesaw… Because we’re all 6 at heart! We all went on the spinny thingy and Logan almost threw up.

We came inside to do some advancement for Logan, and Bridget was eating her giant lollypop. Sadly it broke when she dropped it on the table, poor Bridget.

We then opened up our tie dye shirts and saw some really good designs We had to soak them in vinegar and the rinsed them out and hung them up to dry.

We started preparing for Ethan’s Cooks meal. We made chicken curry that wasn’t spicy en because Ethan chose a weird recipe. Bridget and Avila made some cookie dough with self raising flour because we had no other options, we put the cookie in the dutchie to cook and when it was done we added Marsh Mallows on top. (this was a mistake…) See Goshawks didn’t think, and we thought that if we left the cookie in the dutchie then marshmallows would melt however with the hot lid still on the cookie burnt into a new creation called Goshawks Charcoal™. Avila and Bridget have now stooped down to Joel level cooking.

Ethan made zuchinni fritters while Logan did dishes and Bridget made the peach pie. We then made out famous Goshawks kettle rice! and burnt the rice to the bottom of the kettle (Sorry Daniel ☺.)

Bridget and Avila then found out that Ethan was making some delectable, brown onion soup flavoured cheese and garlic bread with chunky, off looking buttermilk. Ethan didn’t read the measurements properly and did not add enough flour to the bread because according to him 500g and 500ml are the same thing. So Bridget and Avila helped. Ethan stooped down to Joel level cooking (Now we’re all at Joel level cooking!)(except Logan – he can still cook).

Mr Simon came to to judge Ethan’s meal, He seemed to enjoy most of the food except for the cookie which had… (perhaps the food did for authors? -Ed)
