The group campfire was attended by Meerkats, Cubs, Scouts and parents alike. While everybody ate boerewors rolls and waited around, the Scouts were cooking up a plan for how to light the fire. To everybody’s surprise, after Ian was finished talking to us about the roof, Daniel told us that the campfire was cancelled. Lucky for us, the Scouts had other ideas. They ran down the hill with a burning pole to light the fire.
The program was very full, as each patrol, six and the meerkats all had something to offer. The heat of the fire (demonstrated by how well it toasted Joel’s arm) and the noise we made (sorry, neighbours!) made this group campfire one to remember. Bonus points because we ended up in a newspaper.
Thank you to Ethan and everybody else who made this campfire happen and led us to make amazing memories.
