Term 4 2023 “The Big One”
Term 4 was an extremely productive quarter for the Kestrels Company. We welcomed Employee MK to the team, saw our more “closer to the retirement home” employees run a good few activities, including CEO James with community service and a movie night, ending off with a banquet, whilst Head of Common Sense, Juliet, led a successful business venture around Glen Cairn, leading to a shift in business in our favour. Many Kestrels employees frequented the campaigns of the troop, including the campfire, work party, Quinn trophy, JOTI, Orienteering and Tim’s Car Wash, earning us some extravagant profit, which we hope to spend on, drumroll please, STA kit supplies! (If Oompa loompa 2, Axel, allows it).
Profit margins are expected to rise in the upcoming quarter, as our employees grow into the business we call “Scouting”. Employee Anjali displayed her commitment to the cause by, firstly, being loyal to the Blue-and-Green Kestrels badge, as well as completing the rare dance scoutcraft badge! William also excelled in this area, achieving a record 4 scoutcraft badges in 1 singular week! Our COO Laura also obtained her Designer and Musician badges, whilst CEO James, as well as Oompa Loompa 2, Axel, did a few Interest badges too.
Now, you may have heard of our last-minute exercise code-named “Operation Moscip”.
“It was a dark Sunday night. The CEO sent us a frantic message, something along the lines of “Colleagues! I need you to help the firm out. Let's win Moscip!” - Anonymous.
And so we did, achieving badges like crazy, boosting us into the endzone, skyrocketing our stock values, and earning us the massive Moscip win. Most notably, we all got a slab of chocolate, the ultimate accolade.
All round every member of our company absolutely excelled in all areas of the business this term – you should be extremely proud of yourselves, and remained optimistic and scrumptious for the new quarter – where Oros scores will remain high, and our drive for profit even higher!
Moscip better prepare to be on the West Wall once again.

Juliet’s Patrol Hike
3 December 2023
Juliet, Axel, William and I met at Glen Cairn Train Station at 2pm to do Juliet’s Hike. We walked along the Main Road through Glen Cairn to Fish Hoek to Saint James and then to Muizenberg. Throughout the walk we had some quick breaks along the way. We were always near the coastline and it was very pretty!
When we entered Kalk Bay we walked along the pier and ate our lunch, happily watching the seals whalloping about. We then continued and reached our destination, Muizenberg!
I enjoyed Juliet’s hike as it was great fun and a pleasure to see the stunning ocean.
