Meerkat Camp  “On Brownsea Island”

As November approaches, our Meerkats seem to know – it’s Camp time! Together with parents and Cub siblings, we drove down to Glencairn and entered the fantasy world of Brownsea Island. The theme for the National Camp is set each year and Meerkat Dens all over the country follow the same programme of activities. This year’s was a winner.

For many it was their first night under canvas (with their parents, of course) and even their first outside campfire. The favourite activities including making and blowing kudu horns, making and firing catapults, scavenger hunts, nature rambles and roaming freely in a wide-open space. Pancakes at 7am were once again a hit.

As we got ready to leave, one little Meerkat shouted “Snake!” and there was a very long, large mole snake, trying its best to get away from the gathering throng.

A weekend to remember for a long time.
