At Cubs we learnt about bees. It was really interesting talk that a beekeeper gave us. We learnt that the queen bee flies really high up into the air to mate with a lot of drone bees, drone bees are male bees.
We also got to see the gear that the beekeepers wear when they’re collecting honey. These items are a netted hat, gloves, a full bodysuit and they also us a smoker to calm the bees down when they’re collecting honey. When the beekeeper was talking to us he told us that he makes multiple things out of honey. I was surprised when he said that he makes beer out of honey! All the Cubs got to taste three different types of honey, one was normal store bought honey. All the honey tasted different with their own unique taste. I really enjoyed that lesson it was fantastic!
