On the 24th January Kestrels embarked on the long journey from Cape Town to Moreson Campsite in Slanghoek. When we got there it was getting late so we set up camp and started making a delicious stew type thing. We cleaned up and then we went to bed. Bright and early we woke up and went for an early morning plunge in the river to wake up properly. We then chilled out by the camp and played card games, painted rocks and Laura’s shoes, made friendship bracelets and plaster of Paris footprints. Before lunch we went for another swim and turned MK into a sand mermaid.
We started to make lunch and realised we had forgot the cheese to put in our rolls! So we ended up having pasta, lettuce and plain rolls. Then we had to start preparing Laura’s first class meal, we made zucchini fritters for starters, (they didn’t work out to well) Hawaiian chicken for mains and a burnt peach cobbler for dessert. We all showered and then started playing cards when a little kid ran up to the tent we were in and started talking to us he then ran off again and we could hear his Mom yelling at him! Then we went to bed and when we woke up the next morning we had oats so easy and coffee/hot chocolate. Then sadly we had to start packing up. After we were done packing up, we went for a last swim, said goodbye to our campsite and got into the car for the long journey back. All in all it was a great camp full of fun and activities. The food was great and the memories I have now will last forever!
