On 28 August, I ran my community service for Discoverer. We were going to repair a boardwalk in Kildare Nature Reserve found behind Kildare Pre-Primary School. This project is especially special to me because I went to Kildare for pre-school. I have many memorable moments and special memories made in the Kildare Nature Reserve and was hoping that by repairing the boardwalk many new children could make special memories in the reserve.
The day started at 9am with pulling up all the old planks of the boardwalk. As we pulled up planks we would start screwing new ones down in place using drills. This was a slow process as 4 screws were needed per plank. After many hours of hard work, we managed to complete a 20m long boardwalk at 5pm in the evening. All the scouts that attended had a blast and were able to get some very useful community service hours that can go towards advancements. I had no idea how much fun this would be, and I would run it again in a heartbeat.
