Meerkat Den Report – When things go whoosh and bang!

The wet weather made fools of us all term. Our Meerkat Den frequently had to switch to Plan B or postpone events altogether.  Looking back, though, 1st Claremont accomplished a lot, grabbing every bit of outdoor activity time we could. We even had 83% attendance!

Among many other activities, games and songs, we completed the Proudly South African badge with a grand soccer match and a lusty singing of the National Anthem (no backing track for us); the Adventure badge, where learning to use a compass and navigate to the hidden treasure is always a hit; and finally, the Scientist badge when things go whoosh and bang, change colours and your hair stands on end!

My grateful thanks to my Scouter team whose most common word is “sure” as we ducked and dived through the changes, and to so many of the parents who handled bases or Burrows when asked.
