Committee Notes

This year we are intending to open a meerkat den for children aged 5- 7 and the organising of this is in its final stages. The intention was to open it at the start of the second term, but with the Covid 19 crisis it is not clear when this will now happen. We will probably start with 8 children moving over time to the 12 children maximum. The den will be run by Nick Hall with assistance from his sister Rebecca Hall. The meetings will be 45 minutes long, held on Saturday mornings.

There is also an intention to open a Rover crew, for adults of 18 – 30 towards the middle of the year. This would mean that 1st Claremont would have all 4 branches (Meetcats, Cubs, Scouts and Rovers).

There are also plans to paint the hall and redo the floor, both of which will significantly improve the appearance and amenity of the hall. There are also various other long term intentions for necessary improvements to the grounds. The finances of the group are sound, with careful budgeting allowing us to undertake costly maintenance projects and plan for future ones. The age of the hall means that long term costs will be high, and careful management of this is necessary.
