Annual Camp

The scouts ended off 2019 positively with an annual camp lead by Rebecca Sparg and Thomas Roomes for their Springbok badges. The whole camp was a total of five days with Rebecca leading the first two and a half days and Thomas taking over half way through the third day.

The first day the patrols (Chernobyl, Seals and Team Trees) were focusing on the construction of their campsites, with morning P.T. of the second day consisting of clearing of alien vegetation which happened everyday, but at different times. This was for community service as well as a way of gaining points for the inter-patrol competition. Another way of gaining points daily, was through inspection, which took place in the morning.

Another one of the competitions that took place was the traditional game of volleyball which was one of the main attractions of the day as well as the obstacle course which happened on the fourth day. Four teams played, the three patrols and a team of scouters, with the occasional borrowing of other players when a team didn’t have enough people on their side.

All the way through the camp, most scouts had a great time. There were some times where the heat was making the going a bit difficult and scouts were feeling a bit down, but at some stage throughout the camp, they enjoyed themselves. By the end of the camp, everyone was exhausted and were looking forward to a relaxing afternoon.
