Here’s a formula for a good read. First, take the world’s largest voluntary youth organisation and a Scout Group with more than a century of tradition, located in a beautiful part of the world. Next, collect an incredibly dedicated team of Scouters to run the programme. Inspire them, train them, and support them with great facilities and a strong parents committee to look after the facilities, funds and admin. Since they’re such a great team, they will soon set up an amazing programme of activities which will fill the group to bursting with Meerkats, Cubs and Scouts. Let those more than one hundred members attend more activities than you can whip a rope at. Watch the young members feed off the excitement as they learn, advance, and lead. Their inspiration will build more success.
Finally, make sure some of them write down some of the things they did every term and take great photos. Bundle it up into an exciting edition of Smoke Signals to send to your members, parents, supporters and alumni.
That of course is all just a roundabout way of saying “thank you” to everyone for the team effort not just in contributing to Smoke Signals newsletter but also for making 1st Claremont Scout Group the amazing group that it is.
